One of my favourite pass times these days has been to watch clouds through the window as they slowly pass by. It’s so relaxing and stills the barrage of thoughts that at times is going on inside of me. I just focus on the beauty of the clouds and their slow, steady movement across my line of vision and everything else in life seems to disappear. God is like those clouds. Often He works in slow, steady ways and He waits for us to set time aside from the rush and hurry of our lives to notice what He is doing in our midst. Sometimes what He is doing seems to be happening so slowly that we fail to notice it at all unless we deliberately slow down enough to pay attention and “see” God’s hand in our lives.
I encourage you to slow down for a few minutes today and although the sky is overcast, perhaps you can find something else around you to remind you that God is still present and working. The buds or blooms on a tree, a conversation with a friend, the smile of a stranger, the gentle breeze swaying flowers to and fro. In that place as you take in small blessings around you, ask God to reveal to you how He has been working and moving in your own life. It may just be that you see small changes…that you’re growing and changing in ways that you didn’t even realize, even just in the last few months.
Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24

Hi Jennifer, Thanks for the inner-perspective on clouds. One of my favourite ways to watch clouds is to lie flat on my back and look at the clouds moving across the sky. In almost no time at all, I feel as if I am the one moving as I float along on a tide or river. Maybe that’s God moving us then.
I suggest you look up the song “Cloudy” by Simon and Garfunkel on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-fIO7_HJBo. I love that song!

I’d never heard that song before. Thanks for your thoughts Herman! It’s definitely nicer to watch them from outdoors than through a window.
